Overview

Mildowon Clip is a short animation video designed to showcase the future lifestyle of MIldowon residents: Mildowon is a billion dollar luxury residential project in Korea. Given that Mildowon's location is unique, in the forest that outlooks the ocean, it focuses on Korean traditional aesthetics combined with high-end luxury. This clip was created to impress the investors and future residents of Mildowon.

Context and Objective

Mildowon Clip was created to promote the lifestyle of future Mildowon residents. During my internship at STRX, our team worked on a luxury residence project called Mildowon. We needed a creative medium to showcase the project to investors and potential home buyers. The goal was to help the audience connect with Mildowon on a personal level and envision what it would feel like to live there.

To achieve this, we decided on a short animation video that would emotionally resonate with viewers. I proposed a first-person perspective to foster a deeper connection and suggested using traditional Korean aesthetics and poetic subtitles to emphasise the unique cultural and environmental attributes of Mildowon’s location. These subtitles were written in a Korean traditional poem style, further elevating the animation’s traditional vibrance.

Taking Initiative

Although animation wasn’t my area of expertise, I took the initiative to lead this aspect of the project as I was the only team member familiar with After Effects. This role pushed me out of my comfort zone, but I embraced the challenge. When faced with unfamiliar techniques, I researched, experimented, and iterated until I achieved the desired outcome. This hands-on approach not only helped me grow as a designer but also made me particularly proud of the final product.

Storyboarding and Iteration

Working closely with the art director, we developed a detailed storyboard to structure the animation. Multiple feedback sessions with the top executives were conducted regularly to refine the frames, ensuring that every element aligned with the project’s vision.

The final animation successfully conveyed the essence of Mildowon’s lifestyle, receiving praise from key investors and executives for its cultural authenticity and emotional resonance. The clip helped create a strong emotional connection with the audience, effectively positioning Mildowon as a symbol of luxury, tradition, and community.
